Life lessons from Star Wars
A couple of weeks ago I took my dad to see Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, at the Royal Albert Hall with a live orchestra. It was as great as it sounds.
And it features one of the best characters - Yoda.
In this movie he’s training Luke Skywalker as a Jedi, while Luke is getting frustrated at the ‘impossible’ tasks Yoda is setting him. He complains that he is trying.
Yoda’s response: “Do or do not, there is no try.”
Where in life are you trying, instead of doing? I’m going to think on that and try get back to you!
A good place to start, is by editing your daily vocabulary - swap the word ‘try’ for ‘will’. I will do that.
And when Luke says it won’t be possible to raise his ‘x-wing starfighter from a swamp using only the force’ - Yoda does it and proves him wrong..
Luke stutters: “I don’t... I don’t believe it.” Yoda responds: “That is why you fail.”
This sentiment is true even in our galaxy, right? If you believe you will fail, you will.
These are just two life lessons that have stood the test of time from this classic movie. I find it interesting that we’re still talking about the same mindset messages now.
I’m interested to hear what your favourite movie quote might be!
