Dealing with back to school vibes
Anyone else got that back to school feeling? *raises hand* yep me too.
At this time of year I’m overexcited one moment (whoop shiny new goals and a new year to go get ‘em!) and then deflated the next (I’m cold, it’s dark, I’d rather be curled up reading a book).
Even if you didn’t take time off work over the last couple of weeks you may have taken the opportunity of it being quiet to work from home or do less brain hurty tasks (like filing, sorting your inbox).
Plus you may have topped up your energy by relaxing, spending time with friends and family, spending time on your own, eating well, enjoying your presents etc etc.
So how do you cling on to that content holiday feeling a bit longer vs. succumbing to January blues?
How about:
- schedule fun things. Pick something random/ new to do or go see those friends you haven’t seen in ages. Book something to look forward to.
- spring clean - do some de-cluttering. Go through and throw out pieces of old gym kit or go through your desk drawer. Cue sense of winning at life.
- pick some recipes you fancy trying (I’m mainly writing this as I’ve been meaning to do it). Try a new one this weekend
- text someone just to say hi
- start reading that interesting book that’s been on your must read shelf for ages - you know the one
- set inspiring goals (see last weeks blog :))
A happier you has more energy for your career and life. So I hope you enjoy these straightforward ideas to boost your happy. I’d love to hear any more of yours. How do you get yourself energised in January?
P.S. I'll be running a workshop in London this month (or early Feb) to support a small group of you with your next career move. Whether that's within your existing firm or somewhere entirely different, if your mind is boggled with all of the options to work through, this is for you. Email me at kat@katthecoach.co.uk and I'll share a discounted rate just for you when full details are live.
