Lets talk about mental health - I'll go first...
This week is UK national mental health awareness week. It's all about building understanding and promoting good mental health for all.
I often share with you ideas, tips, strategies to manage your mindset and develop your career. Knowing HOW to create a positive mindset doesn't mean I am perfect at managing my own all of the time.
So this week it's self-disclosure time.
Here's some things that have impacted my wellbeing this year:
1) We sold our London home in October 2018 and still haven't bought a new one. It's been pretty draining havingno sense of home and endlessly searching for the right one. It's meant getting excited for every viewing and then crashing down with disappointment after seeing it and knowing it isn't right.
2) A family member has anxiety, which on a bad day leads to paranoia. I can find it difficult to support them whilst also managing the impact on my own wellbeing.
3) I only hit 2/4 of my Q1 goals which made me feel frustrated. I was then annoyed at myself for feeling frustrated because I know negative thinking perpetuates negative outcomes. The voice in my head then snarkily commented that I'm a coach so I should know better than to berate myself (whilst berating myself). That made me feel like a hypocrite.
I'm getting great support in all of these areas and they've moved on since then, so my intention isn't for you to worry :). I'm sharing this because I want you to know that everyone is fallible, even coaches. Even your boss. Even your parents. Even that person who you admire that seems to be fine all the time.
It's ok to not be ok.
So this week, do what feels right to you.
Here are some of the things I'll be doing in case they catch your interest:
- some 'me' time one evening this week. Just me and a book :)
- a session with my coach to continue working on my business and mindset
- buying ingredients for 3 days of healthy meals (and having fun eating out for 2)
- downloading a new meditation to try.
If you feel like sharing I'd love to hear what you're doing to look after yourself this week.
P.S. If you're struggling and want someone to talk to, the Samaritans have a fantastic free service you can call at any time on 116 123.
